Fill empty equipment slots before chasing rarity. This route connects named pickups to existing walkthroughs. Compare the actual item requirements on your save rather than assuming a rarer weapon is immediately usable or always stronger.

Gear of the Gods: equipped items, not backpack contents

ATH's achievement guide describes filling every equipment slot with Legendary items simultaneously, consistent with the Steam achievement description.

Inspect each equipped item's rarity label, replace lower-rarity pieces and fill empty accessory slots. Owning the items in your backpack is insufficient. Check the platform achievement list after equipping; a missing notification alone does not identify the cause. Merchant refresh rules and guaranteed post-ending availability remain unverified, so do not spend time repeatedly visiting a vendor expecting a promised Legendary reroll.

Upgrade your weapon or armor at a vendor

Open the smith or armorer's conversation and choose Improve my equipment!, as described in ATH's equipment guide. Select the piece, compare its current stats with the target-level preview, and review the price before holding confirmation. Check the item level and payment afterward. Do not assume a ring belongs in every smith's service list; use the jewelry branch below if it is absent. Vendor coordinates and universal item eligibility remain unverified here, so an unavailable item is not proof that the upgrade system is broken.

Upgrade a ring or amulet

Visit a witchcraft vendor with the accessory in inventory. ATH's jewelry guide identifies Improve the magic in these as the upgrade dialogue, separate from buying stock.

  1. Select the accessory and review the proposed level and price.
  2. Choose an affordable target, then hold the displayed confirmation input through completion.
  3. Reopen the item card and verify its level changed and the stated payment was deducted.

If confirmation is unavailable, check the displayed cost and merchant service before retrying. Exact prices and every vendor's opening hours remain unverified here.

Picked up gear, but how do you wear it on PC?

  1. Open Inventory with I, select the intended piece, then press Enter to equip it, according to ATH's PC instructions.
  2. Check the occupied equipment slot and character preview. To remove that piece, select the equipped item and press Enter again.
  3. Check Day Set and Night Set separately; do not assume a daytime change updates nighttime equipment.

Unchanged damage or armor alone does not prove failure: a replacement can have equal values. Use the item shown in the slot as your check. These inputs have not been tested firsthand here; follow your current menu prompts if they differ.

Sturdy Battlesword before the mines

  1. From Laslea Glen, follow the northeastern dirt path to the burial ground’s wooden archway.
  2. Beyond the arch, climb the stone ledge on the left and enter the green-lit cave. Search its chest for Sturdy Battlesword.
  3. Open your inventory and equip it yourself. Check its current item card; comparison numbers are not a guaranteed damage increase.

Sangoran Wayfarer set: check bonus eligibility first

The publisher’s Xbox listing confirms a preorder bonus also obtainable later in play. ATH's bonus-claim article places the eligible early grant after clearing the village-gate rubble in Smoke and Ashes. The publisher does not specify the later location, so do not assume every copy receives the prologue grant.

  1. Check whether your purchase includes the bonus and whether its add-on is installed.
  2. For an eligible copy, finish Smoke and Ashes, including the gate rubble with Anca, then check inventory after the transition.
  3. Look for the Wayfarer chest, leg and foot pieces. Compare armor proficiency before equipping them.

ATH’s accounts disagree about non-preorder timing and armor values. This checklist promises neither a universal prologue reward nor fixed stats. If the grant is missing, record your purchase entitlement and quest state before contacting platform support; restarting the story is not a verified fix.

Start with the ruins

  1. Follow Deep Down to the central sarcophagus chamber.
  2. Inspect the murals and loot Mireleaf Bracers. Check the arm slot afterwards instead of leaving them in inventory.
  3. Defeat the Forgotten Guardian and loot Undead Warrior’s Sword. Compare its requirements and values with your equipped weapon.

Another weapon route

  1. Take the Laslea Glen map from the Outlaw's Gorge cabin and follow the treasure route.
  2. Dig and loot the chest, then inspect Polished Long Cleaver. Arriving at the cave is not the reward checkpoint.
  3. After the prologue, consider Durandal, but read its equip requirement first.

Match gear to your actions

For daytime sword combat, start with an equipable weapon and a reliable block-and-counter loop. When using claws at night, read whether an item's effect applies to the action you use; do not assume a sword modifier also boosts claws.

Check armor training

Use the Second Skin checklist before accepting medium or heavy armor penalties. Compare the same character panel before and after swapping. Keep the old piece until the new loadout works for your current combat routine.

Ring of Focus is reported in southeastern Parlita, but a precise, guaranteed chest route remains unverified here. Do not build a shopping budget around the roundup’s prices or assume every shared bonus doubles. Compare the actual item, slot and character panel before replacing equipment.

Scarlet Knightly Gambeson: search the sheltered chest

ATH reports this chestpiece at the Silver Mines entrance. Save before approaching the guards; the published route involves fighting them, but does not independently establish that combat is the only access method.

  1. After resolving the encounter, check the chest beneath the wooden shelter.
  2. Verify Scarlet Knightly Gambeson in the loot list. The chest closest to the entrance is described as a different container.
  3. Inspect the chest slot and equip requirements before swapping. If you also receive the Mending Ointment recipe, check the crafting list separately.

Exact location, loot and alternate access remain unverified in our own playthrough; fixed armor values and “best prologue gear” claims are not used here.

Ring of Focus: check the Headhunter route

Look for Jutta north of The Silts if your playthrough has already reached the Headhunter stage. OSLink's equipment guide reports this drop at Infamy 7. This is a later alternative to the unverified Parlita chest, not a recommended early-game detour.

  1. Check Court for On Public Enemy before searching. ATH's September 19 route places the encounter on the road south of a Destroyed Shrine, below the city near The Silts.
  2. Check the enemy name: Jutta, Elder of Clan Gedr. After the encounter, inspect her loot for Ring of Focus, then confirm it in inventory.
  3. Equip it in the intended Day Set or Night Set. The item database lists charge restoration from attacks, blocks and perfect blocks, plus magical damage reduction. Read your own item card before replacing another ring.

If Jutta is absent, record your decree and quest state; a missing encounter does not establish a respawn timer. Exact patrol timing and guaranteed drops across versions remain unverified here. Merchant availability reports also conflict, so do not wait repeatedly or budget for guaranteed stock. Compare the same combat actions before and after equipping; this is a practical check, not proof of a fixed improvement.

How do you set separate day and night equipment?

Open the character screen and choose Equipment Preview on the right, the entry identified by PC Gamer's gameplay tips. Select the intended day or night loadout before changing a piece.

  1. Check which set is selected, then equip the item in its slot.
  2. Switch to the other set and inspect its slots separately.
  3. Return to the intended set and check the item name; owning it in your backpack is not the same as equipping it.

Also inspect the weapon or bracers' ability description: PC Gamer distinguishes weapon arts from bracers' claw arts. Compare the ability your current form can use before spending points on a different skill. Do not assume matching rarity means matching abilities, or that a sword bonus applies to claws.
