Durandal is in the broken wagon on the Cursed Chasm floor. Approach the broken bridge from Coward’s Path Shrine, inspect the wreckage, then descend on the eastern rock path. Receiving the sword, finishing the quest and meeting its equip requirement are separate checks.
A picture of the descent entrance is still missing. Use the bridge image to identify the investigation site and the later Focus image to distinguish the wrecked wagon from nearby skeletons.
Before descending
- Complete the prologue, then locate the bridge near Coward’s Path Shrine in Briar Sloughs.
- Inspect the bridge wreckage and Special Orders. Check The Cursed Chasm in your journal; the next search is below the bridge.
- Save before going down. Tavern gossip can provide a lead, but is not required for this direct exploration route.
Take the rock path
- Move to the eastern edge of the chasm and follow the rim northwest to the ledge joining the downward path. Descend, check the landing at the gap, then use a running jump.
- At the bottom, use the wreckage beneath the bridge as your search area. This route does not require night traversal. The published descent replaces the older, vague “right-hand path” directions; it has not been gameplay-tested by this site.
Clear the encounter and search the correct object
- Watch the wolves on approach. Vidmo and the red Echo can join the encounter. Avoid standing between the groups, and dodge the Vidmo frenzy.
- If blood streams from Coen to Echo, attack Echo to interrupt its drain. Once the area is clear, use Focus on the wreckage.
- Read the Final Report on the skeleton, then search the broken wagon. Confirm Durandal in inventory and check the quest outcome.

Match your blocker to the next check
- Sword present but greyed out: inspect its equip requirement. Item level and required character level are different; do not repeat the pickup.
- Document collected, sword missing: return to the wagon interaction, not the skeleton.
- Only a treasure map received: that leads to Finders Keepers. Finish the wagon check before choosing a treasure hunt.
- Concerned about time: published accounts disagree about the exact charging point. Save beforehand and inspect the current interaction prompt; no step here is promised to be free.
No-fight claims and separate objectives
A ledge, Shadowstep and through-platform pickup method has been reported, but its current-version reliability remains unconfirmed. It is not part of this main route. If no loot prompt appears, follow the descent and encounter steps instead of repeatedly reloading for an unverified shortcut.
After collecting the sword, choose Finders Keepers, the Cycle of Ruin circle or early equipment checks. These are separate objectives, not mandatory prerequisites for Durandal.
