Shapeshift is not an inventory item. Buy it in the Vampirism tree from a Shrine’s Perks screen, then run in one direction at night. When the Haste prompt appears, use the binding shown on your screen to become a wolf. No Haste prompt during the day is an intended restriction, not a reason to hunt for a manual or restart.

First identify whether you lack the skill or the night condition

  1. Check that it is night. Wolf form is for night-time traversal; if Haste does not appear during the day, wait for night instead of treating the skill as broken.
  2. Open character progression and confirm the target is Shapeshift in Vampirism, not a Swordmastery or Witchcraft movement ability. It does not use the manual-and-inventory-reading route.
  3. If the node is greyed out, read its current missing condition. Do not assume a particular value is missing; use the skill-point or prerequisite text on the node.

The check here is that Shapeshift shows as purchased in the Shrine Perks screen. Seeing its name in a menu without completing the purchase does not create the night-time wolf prompt.

Buy Shapeshift from the Shrine Perks screen

  1. Locate an activated Shrine on the map and use its displayed interaction prompt. If you remapped controls, use the current binding on your Controls screen.
  2. Enter Perks and open the Vampirism tree. Shapeshift is in the lower-right area of that tree; do not look for it in the inventory or the common active-ability bar.
  3. Select Shapeshift, read the node’s conditions and cost, then confirm the purchase. Return to the node and check that its state changed instead of relying only on an icon.

Shapeshift does not use a common Active Abilities slot. If you thought a full active bar prevented the purchase, check the Vampirism node directly; you do not need to remove a standard active ability first.

Trigger wolf-form Haste at night

  1. Enter an open area at night, close menus, and keep moving in one direction. Do not search for a transform button while standing still: the Haste prompt appears while you run.
  2. When Haste appears, use the current binding printed in that prompt. The site does not hard-code it because bindings can be remapped; your prompt and Controls screen are authoritative.
  3. Keep moving after transformation to use the wolf for faster night travel. The success check is the wolf form and Haste movement state, not merely the purchased node.

If no prompt appears after running, check in order: whether it is actually night, whether the node is purchased, whether you are moving normally, and whether a story or combat state is blocking use. Resolve the first failed check, then run again instead of repeatedly reopening the Shrine menu.

Do not force wolf form during the day

  1. Shapeshift cannot be used in daytime. For faster daytime movement, check whether you need Mercurial Fervour in the Witchcraft tree instead of repeatedly inspecting Vampirism.
  2. These travel options belong to different trees and time periods. A missing daytime wolf form does not mean Shapeshift was removed or that Corruption and manuals are malfunctioning.
  3. Planeshift and other traversal actions are separate from wolf travel. Check what the current terrain asks for and use its on-screen ability prompt rather than treating wolf form as a climbing button.

Before changing what you check, name the issue: a node will not buy, Haste will not appear during night running, or you want daytime speed. Use this page for the first two; use the skill-unlock checklist for manual-gated skills. That keeps separate systems out of the same troubleshooting loop.

Short completion checklist

  1. Shapeshift is purchased in Shrine Perks.
  2. It is night and the character is moving continuously.
  3. The Haste prompt appears and the displayed binding changes Coen into a wolf.

When all three are true, Shapeshift is ready for night exploration.
