Finish the stone investigation before using Astral Communion at the altar during daylight. Repeated altar interactions cannot skip an unfinished exploration objective. This page troubleshoots the trigger; the item route is linked separately.

Still asked to explore

  1. Confirm that you are tracking the Ancient Circle rather than a nearby shrine or unrelated activity.
  2. Sheathe and use Focus to inspect the highlighted points on the stones.
  3. Recheck the journal after each inspection. Move to the altar only after the objective advances to starting the trial.

Altar remains inactive

  1. Check daylight, human form and whether Astral Communion is available.
  2. Face the cracked altar in front of the stones and use the displayed ability prompt. An ordinary loot key is not the spell input.
  3. Watch for guardians and an objective change. If neither appears, recheck the target and current state.

After the fight

Follow the chest objective, loot the reward and inspect the activity state. A manual reward still needs reading and a separate skill purchase.

Location and recovery

Use the Cycle of Ruin route for its location. Other circles' unique puzzles and rewards are not confirmed here. Recover from the nearest unfinished stage: investigation, spell, combat or chest.
