If your journal still asks you to explore, finish that investigation before using Astral Communion at the altar during daylight. If it already asks you to start the trial, follow that objective. This page troubleshoots the trigger; the item route is linked separately.
The illustrated route is in the Northern Swamps, north of Briar Sloughs Crossing. Track this Ancient Circle on the map; it is separate from the Cursed Chasm circle linked below.
Choose your next action from the journal
| Current state | Next action | Confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Still asked to explore | Sheathe, use Focus and inspect remaining stone markers | Objective changes to starting the trial |
| Asked to start, no spell prompt | Check daylight, human form, Astral Communion and altar target | Spell interaction is available |
| Guardians have appeared | Finish this encounter | Chest or follow-up objective appears |
| Fight is over | Search the chest and inspect activity state | Inventory and journal reflect completion |
The main-route images below locate Northern Swamps only. For a particular manual, use its acquisition guide rather than applying a different circle’s rewards to your current location.

Still asked to explore
- Confirm that you are tracking the Ancient Circle rather than a nearby shrine or unrelated activity.
- Sheathe and use Focus to inspect the highlighted points on the stones.
- Recheck the journal after each inspection. Move to the altar only after the objective advances to starting the trial.
Altar remains inactive
- Check daylight, human form and whether Astral Communion is available.
- Face the cracked altar in front of the stones and use the displayed ability prompt. An ordinary loot key is not the spell input.
- Watch for guardians and an objective change. If neither appears, recheck the target and current state.
After the fight
Follow the chest objective, loot the reward and inspect the activity state. A manual reward still needs reading and a separate skill purchase.
Location and recovery
Use the Cycle of Ruin route for that manual's documented location. Recover from the nearest unfinished stage: investigation, spell, combat or chest.
Other circles: separate locations, separate rewards
These references concern different sites. Disputed rewards and incomplete approaches remain unconfirmed, not guaranteed routes for a named manual.
Blind Gorge: daytime trial in The Silts
For the eastern circles, use the separate map references below rather than this southern destination.
This is a separate circle in southern The Silts. Confirm Ancient Circle: Blind Gorge in the journal; the Northern Swamps map above does not locate it. A precise approach from a named shrine remains unconfirmed here.
- Arrive by day with Astral Communion available. Face the altar in Focus and use the ability; the activity database lists one time segment.
- Deal with the summoned enemies. The source shows a Revenant Champion encounter; clear nearby attackers before committing to the champion, keeping space to evade.
- After the trial, inspect the activity state and search the chest. A completed fight is not proof that you collected its contents.

The dedicated article lists Cycle of Ruin, while the roundup lists Artery Strike and Sanguine Bladedancer’s Tunic. The guaranteed reward is unconfirmed; disagreement alone does not prove randomized drops. Check the actual loot name before choosing a skill route.
St. Tyna’s Grove: distinguish the eastern marker
From St. Tyna’s Grove Tower, the published route heads northeast to the ruins. Confirm the journal name before casting in daylight. Defeat the summoned Apparitions, then search near the fresco for the reward chest.

The article mixes Herbal Remedies II, Soul Stigma and Soul Reaping reports from nearby circles. Exact chest assignment remains unconfirmed; do not treat these as one guaranteed bundle.
East of Maragir: a separate forest circle
Locate the eastern forest marker, not the Maragir Wealds circle. At the altar, use Focus and Astral Communion by day. Clear the Champion and nearby beasts before checking the chest.

Both Soul Reaping and Mercurial Favor appear in published reward accounts. This establishes conflicting reports, not guaranteed randomization. Read the book you actually receive before purchasing its skill.
