Get the right manual

  1. Choose a tower chest or vendor route. Search the chest on St. Tyna’s Grove Tower or Boar’s Back Tower and verify the item name before leaving. These are Medicus I sources, not an instruction to collect Medicus II.
  2. For Vera, visit by day between Briar Sloughs and Maragir Wealds. For the Matriarch, follow Song of the Mountain and preserve peaceful access to the village. Check their current stock and price rather than assuming either vendor remains available in every story state.

Activate and verify

  1. Check the manual in your inventory and its interaction prompt. Then inspect Medicus I in the Witchcraft development tree at a shrine and spend the required point when available. Gamer Guides describes the manual as enabling a perk purchase, not directly granting its effect.
  2. Check Quickslot consumable capacity after learning. If unchanged, confirm the perk was purchased rather than merely revealing its entry. No fixed capacity increase is established here.

Looking for Medicus II instead?

Check the Roman numeral before following a tower guide. A Medicus II account names Boar’s Back Tower’s upper-platform chest, but also admits it may contain Medicus I instead; this does not establish a guaranteed II pickup. Our Lost Blood walkthrough records a separate reward lead. Verify the book name and target node before purchase or use, and follow the node’s current prerequisites. Do not assume finding the II book automatically purchases earlier requirements.

Why Rockfalls is marked uncertain

ATH names Medicus I in the Rockfalls chest; PowerPyx assigns Aether Flow to that tower and lists Medicus I at the other two towers. A random extra manual cannot be ruled out, but a guaranteed Rockfalls copy is unverified. Do not treat nearby map markers or climbing screenshots as proof of chest contents.
