Follow Lacra down from the village, avoid the silver-filled pools and take the offered kobold guidance if you want the guided route. After Chonk, loot Isbrand’s Plate before interacting with Isbrand and leaving the cave.
Coming here specifically for Isbrand’s Plate?
Use your journal to locate your place in the chain: A Friend Like This → Song of the Mountain → Hive and Seek. Follow each linked route before searching the final chamber. A missing cave objective is a reason to check that chain, not to search unrelated treasure chests.
The chestpiece uses medium armour. After collecting it, inspect your armour proficiency and current item card; another player’s numbers are not a guaranteed roll. Whether you can return after the scene transition remains unconfirmed here, so collect it before proceeding.
Enter and cross the hive
- Finish Song of the Mountain, speak to Lacra and follow the descending path to the cave. Use the slope instead of a blind jump from the cliff.
- Let her open the entrance. Cross on ledges and traversal points; the water damages Coen, so walking straight through pools spends health unnecessarily.
- Fight through the tunnels. After the stronger corrupted kobold, use the wall on the right to continue, then proceed through the next group.
After the first corrupted kobold
Finish Lacra’s investigation conversation before moving on. Look right for the tall wall bordered by green-lit stones, then use the available traversal prompts across the gap and platforms. The light is a landmark, not proof that every glowing surface is a safe landing.
Guidance and the Chonk encounter
- Accept the speaking kobolds’ offer if you want a guide. Follow it down the left route through gaps and crawlspaces to the opening above the encounter chamber.
- Defeat the enemies and Chonk. Create space from smaller attackers before committing to your next attack; preserve healing for this room instead of exhausting it in the pools.
- Afterward, calm the kobolds, point out that they cannot all feed together and explain that doing so would break their bond. This is the documented conversation route to avoid another fight.
Follow the guide, then read Chonk’s attacks
If enemies interrupt the escort, clear the immediate threat and locate the guiding kobold again. Continue behind it to the upper opening; losing sight of the guide does not itself complete that objective.

These are published attack cues, not frame-tested timings. Avoid committing to a counter while smaller enemies are attacking you.
Loot before the transition
- Search the chest on the right for Isbrand’s Plate before freeing Isbrand. The interaction and confirmation with Lacra move you to another area.
- Complete the following conversation and check for Our Rotten Roots. Its wait objective is a separate next step; do other useful tasks while waiting rather than repeatedly trying the same conversation.
The optional guide does not remove Chonk’s encounter. If you declined it, the route still continues, but you must navigate the next cave section yourself.
