Find the pillory in a Svartrau City backyard, tell its guard you are freeing the captive, win the fight and interact with the pillory. Finish Nelu’s conversation before leaving. His instruction to visit Vicho is a reward lead after the rescue, not another guard encounter needed to complete Out of Love.
Find the city pillory
-
Search the city backyard indicated for this Court activity and confirm Out of Love in the journal. PowerPyx places it in central Svartrau; use the quest name to distinguish it from Bakir’s other pillories outside the city. Gamer Guides records approaching the captive as the trigger.

The soldier conversation prompt and Out of Love objective, including the three-segment marker. · All Things How / Rebel Wolves -
Approach the soldier until the conversation prompt appears. Follow your displayed interaction binding. The reference screenshot shows this prompt and the correct quest name; it does not establish a universal keyboard key.
Start the rescue and release the captive
- Select “I’m setting this man free.” to commit to the rescue. Allow three time segments: Gamer Guides lists that cost, and the task HUD in the reference image displays 3 with an hourglass. This is an activity cost, not three real-time hours.
- Defeat the guards, then return to the pillory and release the man. Killing the soldiers alone does not replace this interaction. Let the conversation finish so that you receive his explanation and the merchant lead.
Follow Nelu’s reward instruction

- Note the instruction to visit Vicho in Altenmarkt. Gamer Guides’ completed outcome explicitly records that the rescued father sends Coen to this merchant. The scene shown below concerns an order awaiting collection, not an immediate item handover.
- Check Out of Love’s journal status before treating the merchant errand as unfinished rescue work. This guide does not assign an unverified fixed potion reward to the courtyard. The precise shop approach and follow-up dialogue require their own verified route.
If the activity still appears open
Check the captive interaction after combat first, then confirm you completed the conversation. Recheck the journal’s quest title if the instructions concern a different prisoner. Bakir’s pillories are separate encounters, and this rescue does not unlock the sword teacher associated with another pillory.
Court activities contribute to their lord’s anger, but one completed rescue does not guarantee the challenge quest is ready. Check Court activity progression for the next decision. For a separate activity during the same city visit, see Trouble Brewing.
