Fall Before Dusk follows Rise at Dawn on Crake’s ending route. Enter through the secret tunnels and follow your current journal objectives: surviving Boyars and earlier choices can change the opponents. Keep a separate pre-finale save for unfinished exploration.
Tunnel checkpoints
- Squeeze through the cave gap, climb the ledge and deal with the first kobolds. Continue toward the scouts’ ladder.
- Check the dialogue before attacking the next group. PowerPyx records a negotiation option after Hive and Seek; a walkthrough showing failed negotiation does not prove that combat is unavoidable.
- Follow Reach the ladder, climb, then check for Check the rest of the tunnel. Meet Catalin and proceed toward the cells.

Prison, courtyard and throne room
- Clear the blocker in the dungeon and continue south. Search the cells, then take the western doorway toward the courtyard. Do not expect Bakir and the Warden to be mandatory consecutive fights: the journal database lists alternative objectives.
- Cross the courtyard and enter the castle. Continue upstairs toward the throne room; resolve the enemies actually present rather than searching for a missing boss from another playthrough.
- If the journal changes to Escape Xanthe’s trap, search behind the bookshelf for the passage and drop through. Repeatedly killing apparitions alone is not the escape route. Her cooperation after The Cycle of Love can instead remove supernatural resistance.
Xanthe's trap keeps returning you to the same room
After the first bookshelf passage, ATH describes choosing the doorway beside a downward-pointing triangular banner bearing a tentacled eye, then dropping through the next opening. Resolve the enemies present before checking the doorways. Repeating the room does not by itself prove you chose incorrectly.
The source reports three descents in total, with the bookcase used only on the first. This count is not firsthand-verified here. Check for the ordinary stone corridor and a changed journal objective rather than using a time-passed notification alone as proof of escape. Do not keep searching for another movable bookcase on each loop.
Finish the confrontation — spoilers
- Follow the pursuit objectives after the throne-room encounter. Accepting Brencis’s agreement can divert the ending; defeating him follows the Knyazmaker route. During combat, use the attack indicators: evade the unblockable scream and tentacle strikes. Continue through the second fight and closing dialogue, not just the first health bar.
Check The Knyazmaker and the resolved journal. Gamer Guides records separate outcomes for Marat and Catalin; do not assume both survive automatically. Exact conditions for each survival combination remain unconfirmed here.
If your route differs
One ATH article describes frontal entry, but the pictured journal and two other sources specify a secret tunnel. Likewise, zero versus one time segment is unresolved. Follow your interaction prompt and current objective; see the ending comparison before committing a final choice.
