Split Rock leads to a buried chest in northern Rockfalls containing the Coat of Darkened Scales. For a tracked route, first collect the named map from the bandit camp in southwestern The Silts. Bring a shovel before searching the snowy rock formation.
From the map to the buried chest
- Find the camp in southwestern The Silts. PowerPyx identifies this region for the map pickup. Search its containers with Focus rather than treating the treasure's Rockfalls label as the map's location.
- Take Treasure Map: Split Rock. ATH's pickup screenshot shows this document in the steal menu on stacked woven containers. Check the item name before leaving; another camp item is not the treasure map.
- Select Rockfalls – Split Rock in the journal. Read the map and track the treasure search. Pond Islet is a separate Rockfalls activity with a different destination.
- Search northern Rockfalls. Locate the large roadside rock within the search area, then inspect its rear and the ground at the split formation's base. Look for the rock gap rather than requiring snow at your feet: the completion screenshot shows exposed stone and grass. A search circle is not an exact digging pin.
- Use the ground interaction with a shovel. PowerPyx records one time segment for excavation. Read your prompt before confirming; see the shovel preparation guide if you lack the tool.
- Loot the exposed chest, then check your inventory. A completion banner does not transfer the contents automatically. Confirm both the closed journal activity and the coat in the chest-armour slot.
Missing map or missing dig prompt?
Gamer Guides says the buried chest can be dug up without collecting the map; ATH's solution says the map is required. The route above uses the map for navigation, but does not establish it as a mandatory unlock. If you are already at the landmark, inspect the ground interaction before travelling back.
Check that you have a shovel and are targeting disturbed earth rather than the rock face. If you are still navigating, verify that the journal says Split Rock. A generic Rockfalls marker can send you toward another activity.
Check the coat before equipping
The Coat of Darkened Scales is legendary heavy chest armour. Gamer Guides records passive Activation Charge restoration, damage against animals, maximum Vampiric Health and maximum Stamina effects. Its values scale with item level, so a screenshot's armour total or percentage is not a guaranteed pickup value.
Compare your actual item card with your current chestpiece and review armour proficiency. Do not equip it solely because another guide quotes a large armour increase. The sources disagree on accompanying swords, rings and consumables, so this guide does not promise a fixed secondary loot bundle.
Is there another coat location?
ATH also mentions an upstairs chest during Tiny Dancer. That alternate route remains unconfirmed in this comparison and is not used as a guaranteed substitute. Claims that collecting one coat removes the other, or that the room becomes permanently inaccessible, are also unconfirmed.
