Rescue the prisoners, accept Ursul’s camp invitation and meet him there. Ask for sword training to start a duel; winning opens his manual shop. The quest reward and merchant unlock are separate checkpoints, so a completed journal entry alone does not prove that trading is available.
Find the escort near Svartrau Bridge
- Search the road from Svartrau City’s northeastern gate toward the Military Camp west of Stoneward Post. Lucky Crossing is reported on the southern stretch near Svartrau Bridge; Fate’s Mercy is a separate encounter farther north.
- Follow the road until the intercept objective appears, then defeat the escort. Check the activity name before fighting, since a moving patrol will not always stand at a screenshot’s location. Watch nearby wildlife rather than pulling it into the same fight.
Keep Ursul alive and obtain the invitation
- Finish speaking to the freed prisoners until Ursul offers sword training and the objective changes to meet him. At night, feeding on the prisoners cuts off this route in the ATH accounts. Do not choose hunger while trying to preserve the teacher.
- Track the camp objective into the northeastern part of the Svartrau Outskirts woods. If no meeting objective appeared, first check the rescue dialogue and journal. Merely reaching a forest location does not replace the invitation.
Start and win the training duel

Speak to Ursul and ask him to teach swordfighting. Prepare health and your sword before this conversation because the training begins as a fight. Use blocking and counterattacks to work through openings rather than relying on a fixed damage number.

Defeat him, then speak again and check for the trade option. PowerPyx confirms that the victory unlocks manual sales. ATH reports 250 XP and one skill point for the camp meeting regardless of the duel result, with three time segments for the activity and no additional duel cost.
What to check in the shop
PowerPyx lists Perfect Block, Perfect Riposte, Omniblock, Stinging Blade, Precision, Counterattack, Adrenaline Rush and Walking Fortress among Ursul’s manuals. Read the relevant skill and book descriptions before paying. A shop unlocked successfully can still have a different stock count from a published screenshot.
ATH additionally lists other books and prices, but the inventories differ between accounts. Exact quantities and prices remain unconfirmed for your save. Use the actual shop listing and manual guide; do not buy a similarly named book just to match a guide’s shopping list.
