For Echoes of Silenced Bells, meet Anca at the old inn, travel with her through the fog to St. Tyna's Convent, then clear a route to the library in one of two ways: trade St. Tyna's Relic to the soldiers, or use the bell tower to move the undead nuns. To keep the relic, read Campana Loquitur and use the church signal; the Monastery Keys open the tower's ground-level entrance. After Anca reaches the library, open the hidden catacomb route, defeat Leonica, and make the final notes choice.
Start at the old inn and verify the quest state
- Complete Smoke and Ashes with Anca alive. The quest should appear afterward; if it does not, check the journal before travelling to St. Tyna's Grove.
- Go to the old inn / Crossroads Inn in St. Tyna's Grove and speak to Anca. Select the option that says you are ready to go to the convent. The journey itself spends a time segment, so read the hourglass confirmation before accepting it. If you are planning several quests together, check which actions advance time before departing.
- Follow Anca through the fog, inspect the body when the objective asks, and open the convent gate. After the first group of nuns, join Anca upstairs and inspect the indicated courtyard points before choosing a route.
The key check is the journal objective “Secure a safe passage to the library for Anca.” Killing ordinary nuns in the courtyard is not the solution: the cited routes describe them as reviving. Stop trying to clear the entire yard and choose either the soldiers' relic deal or the bell-tower route below.
Body investigation still unfinished at the entrance?
ATH's entrance account describes two separate inspections. On the fog road, inspect the mutilated body's head and guts, then the nearby torch. After the gate encounter, inspect the defeated nun's eyes, hands and legs. Check each available interaction before moving on; returning to the roadside body will not complete the nun's inspection. The first roadside investigation is reported as optional.
Choose the library route before spending time searching
- Find the sacristy, the building with a small cross on its roof on the west side of the courtyard. Search the wooden shed immediately to its right, against the wall, and take the Monastery Keys from the hook inside. These keys open the sacristy and the ground-level bell-tower entrance.
- For the relic trade, speak through the opening on the left side of the infirmary, below the stairs. Accept the soldiers' request, then follow steps 7–8 to retrieve and exchange St. Tyna's Relic. If you want to keep the amulet, choose the bell route instead.
- For the bell route, enter the building next to and left of the sacristy and read Campana Loquitur on the floor. Use the keys on the door directly beneath the east bell tower, to the right of the main church doors, and climb to the rope. At night, you can also reach the tower through the roof-level gap in the wall.
At the rope, the church signal gathers the nuns in the church and opens the library route. The infirmary signal sends them to the soldiers' position, where they kill the soldiers; if you choose it, ring the church signal afterward to move the nuns away. The dormitory signal alone does not clear the direct courtyard route. After an infirmary signal has dealt with the soldiers, however, PowerPyx describes either the church or dormitory signal as clearing the infirmary passage. The church signal is the simpler choice for the direct route.
After reading Campana Loquitur, interact with the rope and choose the destination from the offered list. ATH describes Coen performing the signal automatically; do not try to solve this by manually counting rope pulls. If destination choices are missing, recheck that you read the document rather than merely finding the tower.
Still trying to meet Anca at the old inn?
ATH describes approaching Crossroads Inn southward from St. Tyna's Grove and walking through its wooden gates. Check for Anca's scene and Make your way through the fog afterward; stopping outside at the marker is not the reported meeting trigger. Repairing the inn's shrine is a separate task, not an established prerequisite for this conversation. Follow the displayed cost before proceeding into the convent.
Get the relic only if you need the soldier route or want it as loot
- For the relic, use the Monastery Keys to enter the sacristy identified in step 4. Inspect the dead nun's neck and take The Relic of St. Tyna. Return to the soldiers only if you have chosen their route.
- Exchange the relic for the soldiers' Infirmary Key to open their route to the library. The amulet leaves your inventory when you hand it over. Alternatively, refuse the handover and defeat the soldiers to retain the relic and open access. The church-signal route also remains an alternative; see Most Precious Thing for the relic decisions.
- Once the route is clear by either method, go back to Anca and explicitly tell her it is safe. Merely reaching the library door does not advance the companion step.
Finish the library and catacombs in order
- Complete the library investigation, then push the bookcase aside to reveal the catacomb entrance. Follow Anca into that passage. Before leaving the library, you can also collect the Mercurial Fervour Manual on the top floor; this is an optional extra copy for an ability Anca teaches around the end of the prologue, separate from the bookcase objective. Use the manual and skill-unlock checks if you are unsure what to do with it.
- Follow the catacomb passage through the undead nuns until you reach Leonica, She Who Speaks With the Devil. Be ready to dodge successive unblockable attacks. When she sends bats toward you, wait for them to approach before dodging; an early dodge can leave you in their path as they turn.
- After defeating Leonica, listen to Anca's explanation and make the final choice about the notes. Burning the notes leaves the nuns at the convent; giving them to Anca lets her attempt the cure and costs one time segment according to the cited route. Either choice completes this quest and starts Between the Words.
Found the Banned Book, but the search is still active?
The catacomb account places the book on shelving beyond a metal grate. Check the picked-up name, then continue through the passage to the large double doors and read the interaction cost before opening them. The book pickup alone does not replace the Leonica encounter and subsequent Anca conversation. Do not search every ordinary shelf for more copies simply because the objective says “books”; confirm the next journal step after the fight.
Recover from the three common blockers
If you cannot enter the bell tower during the day, check for the Monastery Keys in the shed beside the sacristy, then use the door directly below the east tower. If ringing a bell did not open the library, return to the rope and choose the church signal. This also moves the nuns away after an infirmary signal. Keep the direct courtyard route separate from the infirmary route: the dormitory signal alone is not enough for the former.
If Anca remains upstairs after you have cleared the path, return and speak to her again. If you are already in the library but still cannot progress, finish its investigation, move the bookcase, and enter the catacomb passage. Collecting the optional manual does not replace that interaction. After the boss and notes choice, confirm that your journal has advanced to Between the Words.
Keys work elsewhere but not at the infirmary?
Monastery Keys do not open the infirmary’s front doors. Start the soldiers’ negotiation at the rear window instead. If a nun is pursuing you, break line of sight before trying the entrance again. After clearing either route, look for Return to Anca and speak to her upstairs.

Does the notes choice appear in the epilogue?
Show reported later consequences
ATH's choice comparison reports different epilogue murals and village rumours: completing Anca's ritual depicts the sisters at rest, while burning the notes leaves the haunting unresolved. These later scenes have not been verified firsthand here. Keep a save before choosing if you want to compare outcomes; finishing the quest does not mean both choices have the same story result.
