Witch's Pendant is on the dead uriash below the cliff at the end of the patrol trail. Start If a Tree Falls in a Forest by examining the corpse beneath the fallen tree near Northern Foothills, then return to Zdislav after searching the final body.
Trigger the investigation
- Complete All Good Things and visit Northern Foothills during the prologue. Search the woods north of the shrine for the broken tree across the logging route. Use Focus to locate the interactable remains.
- Inspect the tree and the body beneath it separately. The corpse inspection starts the quest. Check for the tracking objective before leaving; looking only at the log is insufficient.
Follow the patrol to the pendant
- Follow the highlighted footprints to an empty scabbard. Inspect the clue, then continue toward the next body. Deal with any wolves interrupting your investigation before resuming the trail.
- Inspect the next soldier and follow the remaining large footprints. Stay with that trail rather than walking straight toward unrelated sounds in the bog.
- Pass the discarded shield and sword. The sword can be taken; the shield is a clue, not an obtainable reward. Continue past the lost shoe to the drop.
- Descend to the body on the rocks below. Search it for Witch's Pendant and Orders: Patrol. Read the orders; the soldiers were investigating unusual activity in the woods.
Return to Zdislav
- Go back to Laslea Centre and speak to Zdislav. Report the patrol's deaths and finish the conversation. Picking up the pendant does not replace the report.
- Check the journal for completion before Sacred Covenant. Sources agree this investigation has no time-segment cost, but the prologue deadline still applies.
Do you need to enter Lazar's cave?
No cave descent appears in the corroborated patrol route. Lazar's underground investigation belongs to Deep Down, which has its own route and requirements. Do not add it as a mandatory step for this pendant.
If the quest remains open, distinguish a missing first corpse inspection, an unsearched final body and an unfinished report. Return to the relevant checkpoint instead of repeating the whole trail.
Rewards and reference-image limits
The inspected loot image shows Orders: Patrol, Witch's Pendant and Mending Ointment. It does not prove a fixed pendant level or bonus. Sources disagree on completion XP and incidental consumables, so those totals remain unconfirmed; compare the item in your inventory before equipping it.
The image's separate Withering Away tracker is incidental. Use its loot panel to identify the pendant, not its active main-quest marker to navigate.
